Generally, we associate birthday celebrations during our adulthood with getting gifts, drinking and partying which would usually be followed up with a day of recovery we wish we could forget.
This year, Setiz Taheri, Co-founder of La Rue Inspire, believed that it was important for us to redefine the idea of celebration. For his birthday, he wanted to spend his time with his community and the people he loves being active, eating a good balanced meal, having fun and enjoying good music. Lastly, instead of receiving gifts, he wanted to give back.
Rather than buying alcohol or gifts, he asked that people please make a donation of their choice to La Rue Inspire as we continue to fulfil our mission of empowering teens and young adults of the community by aiding in their personal development.
The event was held at the Cote-Des-Neiges community centre where Setiz spent a lot of time being active and connecting with the rest of his community growing up.
In collaboration with lululemon Montreal as a part 1 of the Health Our Way Community Sweat Series, we got together as a community, got active & celebrated life!
